Friday I had to work and Travis had to teach so we met Rebekah and Larry in London in the afternoon. They spent the morning at the Tower of London. We first took them to Gordon's Wine bar that we had been shown by Travis's cousin Amy's friends. It's got a very cool dark cellar that's been used for centuries. We wanted to go ice skating at the rink put on at Somerset House by Tiffany's but there weren't any times available so went on to look at some of the major London sights, first stop Trafalgar Square. Then we went into the National Gallery to see a few of the highlights. Afterward we went up to Leicester Square to get tickets for a show and decided on Oscar Wilde's "The Ideal Husband." We had a couple hours before the show so went into Chinatown for dinner.

Saturday we met up in London to go to the British Museum. We did a quick few hour visit since the museum is so huge you could spend the whole day there. We then went to river to take a river taxi from Embankment to the O2 arena. We passed by the London Eye, Parliament, and Tower of London... all covered in snow. We walked around by the O2 arena and then took the tube to Greenwich. We went through a market for some mulled wine and then to an old pub in Greenwich for dinner. We had to go to Rebekah's favorite pub before they left so headed back by their hotel in South Kensington to visit the tiny Nag's Head Pub. We finished the night talking in their hotel room and learning magic tricks from Larry.

On our last day we met Rebekah and Larry at Hyde Park. We then went to visit the Science Museum and learned all about plastic and space and the possible future. It was a really interesting and fun museum. We finished the day by going to Brick Lane to have a great dinner. I think we had found Larry's new favorite food. It was really great to have them here for a few days. It gave us some family for the Christmas time. They left the next day to get back to Austin to pick up Maddy from the airport to visit them for Christmas.
How fun. You guys are having a grand adventure. And that photo of you hugging your mom, Travis? Too sweet.
ReplyDeleteShe has shared some of your stories about all you're learning. I'm so envious.
